1. How do I determine what product is best for a specific vehicle?
Use the vehicle search menus located on the homepage and online store to view all products compatible with your vehicle. Then, use the various filters to narrow your results and make your selection.
2. Is it safe to download software such as the Weblink Updater plug-in from your website?
Our Weblink software has undergone extensive testing for compatibility and conformity with today’s most popular windows operating systems including Vista and XP. All downloads from our website are automatically scanned by an internal anti-virus server insuring that your download is secure. We install only required components, no adware or malware of any kind. Our download does not require a registration of any kind so your personal information is kept private.
3. What is the Weblink Updater™ USB cable?
This cable is the bridge between our products and your PC, allowing you to download or “flash” firmware to our products via our website.
4. I installed the Web Updater plug-in and connected the Weblink Updater™ cable but I still can’t flash my module. What’s wrong?
Be sure you are logged in as an administrator on the computer to install the plug-in or it may not function correctly. Some computers may require a reboot after installation for the updater to work. If you have tried all this and are still having trouble, please contact our Technical Support department.
5. How do I verify which firmware is installed in my module?
There are two ways to verify the module’s installed firmware and version:
  1. Refer to the label on the module’s packaging
  2. Connect your module to your PC using the Weblink Updater™ cable, visit our website and click on the ‘FLASH YOUR MODULE’ button located on the top right corner of the webpage.
6. How do I know if my module is properly programmed to the vehicle?
A flashing green light during remote start will indicate that your module is programmed correctly. If a flashing green light appears while the engine is running with a key, this indicates incorrect programming or that there is feedback caused by another device connected to the ‘ground when running’ line on the module’s input.
7. How do I reset my module to its factory default settings?
Unplug all the harnesses from the module, press and hold the button while inserting the main power harness. When a flashing red light appears, release the button. A green light will then indicate that the reset was successful.
8. Which installation mode I should be using to program an iDatalink module?
The iDatalink mode is recommended if your remote starter is equipped with an iDatalink port (RS232). Otherwise, you can select the standard hardwiring mode.
9. My module LED always flashes green, even with the ignition in the OFF position. What does that mean?
The module programming process is incomplete. You must select between iDatalink mode (1 X green flash – default mode) or standard wiring mode (2 X consecutive green flashes). To toggle between modes, press and release the button. To confirm your mode selection, press and hold the button until a solid green light appears.
10. I have made my mode selection, so what now?
Follow the instructions in the manual for vehicle programming. Programming procedures can vary depending on the vehicle so it’s important to use the guide’s compatibility chart to insure you are using the correct instructions.
11. Is there a limit to how many times I can re-flash my product on your website?
There is no limit to the number of times a module can be programmed. However, certain limitations may exist depending on the product series in question.

Preloaded products (Solo, Omni) are only updateable with newer versions of the same firmware whereas web-programmable (Multi, Blade) products can be reprogrammed with any supported firmware as often as required. Pay-as-you-go products (Flex coming soon) always use the latest firmware available by default.
12. Can an iDatalink product damage a vehicle’s computers or electrical system?
Great care has been taken in designing our products. From military grade components to state-of-the-art protection circuits, our products are designed to integrate seamlessly into all supported vehicles without risk of damage to OEM computers and/or electrical systems. Damage can always occur as a result of installation error so it is important to insure the product is being installed by a certified professional.
13. Is it ok to unplug the power harness from the module and leave the other harnesses connected?
Though our modules feature built-in fault protection, it is not recommended to leave the module plugged into the vehicle without main ground and power.
14. What do you mean by certified technician?
A certified technician is a person who has acquired legal accreditation as an automotive electrician in his state or province, and carries his practice with the proper tools and reference information with respect to local legal and safety regulations, be it either independently or while employed by an organization.
